Website Not Reachable Error

The error message “website not reachable” means lots of things. Some can be controlled from your end others can be only controlled by website owner or person who is responsible for the website.

Step # 1: Make Sure Website Is Down For You Only

Go to this website and enter website address in question. It will tell you if site is down for everyone or just for you.

If it is down for you make sure your firewall is not blocking connection to the website. In some cases your Government or ISP may block website. Try to using a proxy or vpn server which may give you access to blocked website due to censorship. It is also possible that your IP is blocked by webmaster due to abuse issue such as spam.

Step #2: Make Sure DNS is Working

Can you resolve website names to ip address? Type the following command at shell prompt or dos prompt:
nslookup example.com
nslookup www.dnsknowledge.com

If you can not resolve dns names, try free dns servers provided by Google or OpenDNS or Cloudflare DNS. These dns servers are really fast as compare to your ISPs dns servers.

Step #3: Contact a Webmaster

A webmaster is a website owner, administrator, or a person who is responsible for maintaining a website. Try to contact them by sending an email at [email protected] (replace example.com with actual website domain name) stating your problem. In most cases they will assist you to get rid of problem.
